Alissa Marie Williams inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Alissa Marie Williams, a member of the class of 2015, was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, May 7, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

Williams is majoring in biology and computer science with a minor in mathematics and an emphasis in computational science. She has been a member of Wofford's cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams. She also is a member of Beta Beta Beta biology honor society. A 2014 Goldwater Scholar, she had summer research internships at Harvard Medical School, Cold Springs Harbor and the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge, England. A candidate for a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science degree, Williams plans to pursue a Ph.D. in computational biology at the University of California Berkeley..

Thirty-five Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 74th anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.
