Allison Kate Tolbert Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Allison Kate Tolbert was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, April 26, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Parent(s)/Guardian: Sam and Margo Tolbert of Greenwood, S.C. 29646.

Tolbert is majoring in mathematics and chemistry. She is president of Wofford's chapter of the American Chemical Society and a student leader in the Sandor Teszler Library chapter of Room to Read. Tolbert's research experiences include a summer research experience for undergraduates at Marshall University in West Virginia and being a chemistry consultant for a printing company. She also spent a semester studying abroad at the University of Melbourne in Australia. As part of Success Initiative, she compiled a study abroad magazine about Wofford student experiences abroad. Her love of travel has taken her to all 50 states and soon to six of seven continents. A candidate for the B.A. degree and B.S. degree in May 2012, Tolert plans to backpack in Europe before beginning a Ph.D. program in chemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Thirty-five Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 71st anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.
