Amanda Suzanne Mason receives award during Honors Convocation at Wofford College

Wofford College student Amanda Suzanne Mason received the John Q. Hill Award, the departmental award for mathematics during Honors Convocation on May 9. John Quitman Hill, a Rhodes Scholar, joined the faculty in 1953 and was John M. Reeves Professor of Mathematics and department chair until his death in 1972. She is majoring in mathematics and Spanish with a minor in business and a concentration in applied mathematics.

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
