Anna Marie Pierce Aguillard receives award during Honors Day ceremonies at Wofford College

Wofford College senior Anna Marie Pierce Aguillard was recognized on May 3 during Honors Day ceremonies when she received the the L. Harris Chewning Award, the departmental award for English and the "Heart of a Terrier" award. Aguillard is majoring in English and government. L. Harris Chewning joined the faculty in 1957 as professor of English and chair of the department, retiring in 1981. The "Heart of a Terrier" Leadership Award recognizes those students who have made a positive difference on the campus and excelled in scholarship, leadership, and campus citizenship and service..

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
