Caroline Jean Winn inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Caroline Jean Winn, a member of the class of 2016, was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Tuesday, May 3, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

Winn is majoring in art history, business economics and Spanish. A member of Wofford's orientation committee, Student Affairs committee, Wofford Activities Council and the Spanish Honor Society, she was vice president of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Winn also founded and managed the Wofford College radio station, played piano for the Newman Club and volunteered with the Chapman Cultural Center's "Colors" art outreach. She spent a semester studying in Granada, Spain, and in Copenhagen, Denmark, and spent the past summer as an IT consultant in Manipal, India. Additionally she has had internships with Intelligent Design architectural firm in Carlisle, Pa., and the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. A candidate for a bachelor of arts degree in May 2016, Winn plans to study architecture at Catholic University in Washington, D.C..

Thirty-six Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 75th anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.

Students are normally considered for election to Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford after they have earned 100 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.600. Election is not automatic. Resident members of the chapter consider scholarship, character, intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, diversity of academic interests and pursuits, and other factors in the election process The chapter may elect only 10 percent of a graduating class in any year.
