Colton Hunt Smith receives award during Honors Day ceremonies at Wofford College

Wofford College senior Colton Hunt Smith was recognized on May 3 during Honors Day ceremonies when he received the the John L. Salmon Award, the departmental award for Spanish. Smith is majoring in Spanish with a minor in history. John L. Salmon joined the modern languages faculty in 1921 and retired in 1966 as John M. Reeves Professor of Foreign Languages..

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
