Daniel McCormac Bennett inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Daniel McCormac Bennett was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, May 1, when he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Parent(s)/Guardian: Chipley and Susan Bennett, Spartanburg, S.C., 29307.

Bennett, a member of the class of 2014, is majoring in history with a minor in economics. Bennett is the recipient of numerous scholarships at Wofford, among them the Lewis P. Jones Scholarship and the 1854 Scholarship. He was a walk-on member of the Wofford football team and spent the spring of his junior year at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. He also is president of the Young Americans for Liberty. He plans to pursue a master's degree in history at the College of Charleston..

Thirty-four Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 73nd anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.

Wofford College, established in 1854, is an independent liberal arts college of 1,650 students in Spartanburg, S.C. Wofford ranks 7th nationally in the percentage of undergraduates receiving credit for study abroad. Home to one of the nation's 280 Phi Beta Kappa chapters, Wofford's historic 170-acre campus is recognized as a national arboretum. Wofford is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
