Elizabeth Harrell studies abroad during Interim 2018

2018 Jan 22

Elizabeth Harrell is is studying abroad in South Africa as part of the Interim course: South Africa: From the Wild Animals of an African Safari to the Rich History and Culture of a Unique People. This course focuses on experiential learning while abroad. Students will learn about the wildlife of South Africa through numerous safari trips. Students will also learn about life in apartheid and post-apartheid South Africa. Finally, students will study South Africa as a BRICS nation with a focus on the South African economy.

Interim permits students and professors to concentrate for the month of January on a single study project of his or her choosing. Interim projects are designed to move beyond traditional classroom courses and teaching methods, to consider important topics in relevant ways and places, to observe issues in action, to develop capacities for independent learning, and to encourage the responsible self-direction of educational development.
