Erica Lynn Cousins inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Erica Lynn Cousins was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, May 1, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Parent(s)/Guardian: Frederick and Janet Cousins, Richmond, Va., 23238.

Cousins, a member of the class of 2014, is majoring in psychology and biology with minors in mathematics and computer science and a program in neuroscience. Cousins is the recipient of an Anna Todd Wofford Scholarship and a Joe Martin Scholarship. She has been active in Adventure Quest with the Glendale Outdoor Leadership School and has been a student instructor of third and fourth graders at Pine Street Elementary School. As a teaching assistant and master of statistical software, Cousins already has published her research in psychology, and she is working on a second article containing her senior thesis research. Cousins plans to attend graduate school and pursue a career in genetic counseling..

Thirty-four Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 73nd anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.

Wofford College, established in 1854, is an independent liberal arts college of 1,650 students in Spartanburg, S.C. Wofford ranks 7th nationally in the percentage of undergraduates receiving credit for study abroad. Home to one of the nation's 280 Phi Beta Kappa chapters, Wofford's historic 170-acre campus is recognized as a national arboretum. Wofford is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
