2010 Jun 15

Rock Hill area student Frances E. Choe has been selected as a fellow in the Wofford College Community of Scholars, an innovative, cross-disciplinary program of undergraduate student research.

Choe, class of 2011, is working on a project titled "Deconstructing Misconceptions of Asian American Women". Parent(s): Helmut and Sung Cho Pirchmoser (Rock Hill, S.C. 29732).

Community of Scholars is designed to foster collegiality through a 10-week summer program and to create cross-disciplinary dialogue among students and faculty conducting research in natural sciences, the social sciences and the humanities. The undergraduate research fellows are pursuing their research projects under the supervision of faculty mentors engaged in parallel or related research.

The research projects include a variety of disciplines, including science, the humanities, the social sciences and the fine arts. Early each fall semester, a public presentation will allow the fellows to summarize their projects. Abstracts will be collected each year for publication.

Students were selected for the Wofford College Community of Scholars program by a faculty committee based on proposals and faculty recommendations.
