Hannah Maka Jarrett Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Hannah Maka Jarrett was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, April 26, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Parent(s)/Guardian: Brent and Debbie Jarrett of Chapin, S.C. 29036.

Jarrett is majoring in English and history with a concentration in creative writing. She has served as president of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society, design editor of the "Old Gold and Black," editor of the "Journal," and as a tutor in the Writing Center. Jarrett also is author of a children's book written in the Community of Scholars, and the author of poetry and fiction that have won awards in the Helmus Creative Writing contest for three years in a row. A candidate for the B.A. degree in May 2012, Jarrett plans to work for a year before beginning graduate school in rhetoric and composition.

Thirty-five Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 71st anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.
