Juliana Rima studies abroad during Interim 2018

2018 Jan 22

Juliana Rima is is studying abroad in Ireland while participating in the Ireland: Then, Now, & Forever Interim course. This course will focus on Irish history and culture. Through travel to different sites in Ireland, students will experience the history, art, architecture, psychology, society and economy of Ireland firsthand and in person. In addition, students will be asked to develop an avatar. This persona will be developed based on specific dimensions (i.e. gender, historical period, social class, etc.), and students will interpret common readings and communal experiences through the perspective of the avatar.

Interim permits students and professors to concentrate for the month of January on a single study project of his or her choosing. Interim projects are designed to move beyond traditional classroom courses and teaching methods, to consider important topics in relevant ways and places, to observe issues in action, to develop capacities for independent learning, and to encourage the responsible self-direction of educational development.
