Justin William Whitaker inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Justin William Whitaker, a member of the class of 2015, was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, May 7, when he was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.

Whitaker is majoring in physics and mathematics with a minor in computer science and an emphasis in computational science. A member of Wofford's cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field teams, he served on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and founded the McCarthy Teszler Committee, which helps student-athletes serve at a local school for special needs children and adults. Whitaker was the recipient of the John Wesley Scholarship, the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation Honorable Mention, and the 2014 American Meteorological Society's Guillermo Salazar Rodriguez Undergraduate Scholarship. Whitaker plans to pursue a Ph.D. in atmosphere science at Colorado State University..

Thirty-five Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 74th anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.
