Matthew Michael Howell receives award during Honors Convocation at Wofford College

Wofford College student Matthew Michael Howell received the Coleman B. Waller Award, the departmental award for chemistry, during Honors Convocation on May 9. Coleman B. Waller served as professor of chemistry from 1904 until 1947 and also taught biology. He is majoring in biology, chemistry and mathematics with a concentration in applied mathematics and an emphasis in computational science.

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
