Palmer Caroline Cantler receives award during Honors Day ceremonies at Wofford College

Wofford College senior Palmer Caroline Cantler was recognized on May 7 during Honors Day ceremonies when she received the the William James McLeod Award and the George A. Carlisle Award. Cantler is majoring in religion with a minor in accounting. The William James McLeod Award recipient has demonsrated potential for future dedicated and selfless service to the church, the state, the nation, and Wofford College. His or her academic record, moral character, and community and college service are considered in making the selection. The George A. Carlisle Award is given annually to the outstadning senior member of the college's choral groups.

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
