Sarah Elizabeth Carter inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford College

Sarah Elizabeth Carter was accorded Wofford College's highest academic honor Thursday, May 1, when she was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Parent(s)/Guardian: Lonnie and Laurie Carter, Moncks Corner, S.C., 29461.

Carter, a member of the class of 2014, is majoring in mathematics and finance. During her time at Wofford, Carter has been the chief marketing officer and the chief administrative officer for Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She also has been managing partner of the R. Michael James Student Managed Investment Fund. She also serves as a member of the Judicial Commission. An avid traveler, she has taken Interim trips to China and Tibet, South Africa, and Spain and Morocco. Carter is planning to move to New York City where she will be working in Barclay's public finance division..

Thirty-four Wofford College students and recent graduates were initiated as members-in-course during the ceremony that marked the 73nd anniversary of Phi Beta Kappa at Wofford.

Wofford College, established in 1854, is an independent liberal arts college of 1,650 students in Spartanburg, S.C. Wofford ranks 7th nationally in the percentage of undergraduates receiving credit for study abroad. Home to one of the nation's 280 Phi Beta Kappa chapters, Wofford's historic 170-acre campus is recognized as a national arboretum. Wofford is affiliated with the United Methodist Church.
