Spencer Thomas, class of 2017, attends George C. Marshall Leadership and Awards Seminar

Spencer Thomas, a member of the class of 2017, was selected by U.S. Army Cadet Command (USACC) to attend the George C. Marshall (GCM) Leadership and Awards Seminar held at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, Feb. 12-16, 2017. Thomas graduated in May with a bachelor of arts degree in English and was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, earning the top senior award for ROTC and the Distinguished Military Graduate for ROTC. He also served as the Cadet Battalion Commander of the Wofford Southern Guards Battalion ROTC program. The seminar has been a capstone leader development event for the USACC since 1978. The GCM recognizes the top cadet from each of the 273 senior ROTC programs and the United States Military Academy's top cadets from each of its battalions. Cadets are exposed to senior army leadership and participate in roundtable discussions on current national security topics.
