Stephen Bryant receives award during Honors Day ceremonies at Wofford College

Wofford College senior Stephen Russell Bryant was recognized on May 3 during Honors Day ceremonies when he received the departmental award for physics.

Bryant is majoring in physics and mathematics with a minor in computer science and an emphasiss in computational science. He is a co-moderator for the Presbyterian Student Association and has been on Wofford's rifle team for four years. He also has been a physics teaching assistant and peer tutor. Bryant participated in an internship in Brazil at the Federal University of Brazil in Juiz de Fora, and an internship at the University of Houston in its Innovations in Nanotechnology REU. Bryant will be attending Florida State University in the fall to pursue a Ph.D. in physics and has been awarded a graduate assistantship.

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
