Wofford College student Rachel Dantzler wins award at seventh Palmetto Chinese Star Competition

Rachel Dantzler, a member of the class of 2019, was the Palmetto Chinese Star Winner and will represent South Carolina in the regional competition on April 16 at the University of Maryland. Dantzler will sing a song, recite a speech and answer questions about Chinese culture, all in Mandarin Chinese..

The Palmetto Chinese Star Competition is a statewide competition that allows Chinese language learners to demonstrate their language and cultural proficiency. The competition is in its seventh year, and Wofford College has earned six of seven opportunities to represent South Carolina in the regional competition. For the first time, the competition was not organized by proficiency level, so beginners competed alongside more experienced opponents.
