Zachary B. Morrow receives award during Honors Day ceremonies at Wofford College

Wofford College senior Zachary B. Morrow was recognized on May 3 during Honors Day ceremonies when he received the the Matthew A. Stephenson Award, the departmental award for economics; the John Q. Hill Mathematics Award, the departmental award for mathematics; and the "Heart of a Terrier" award. Morrow is majoring in mathematics with a concentration in applied mathematics. Matthew A. Stephenson joined the economics faculty in 1963, was department chair for 25 years, and retired as T.B. Stackhouse Professor of Economics in 2000. John Quitman Hill, a Rhodes Scholar, joined the faculty in 1953 and was John M. Reeves Professor of Mathematics and department chair until his death in 1972..

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
