Wofford College, established in 1854, is a four-year, residential liberal arts college located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The college is nationally known for its outstanding faculty, study abroad participation, successful and supportive graduates and commitment to making college affordable and accessible; 99% of students receive some form of financial assistance. The college's 190-acre campus, located within walking distance of Spartanburg's thriving downtown, is home to about 1,800 undergraduates. In addition to a rigorous academic program and experiential learning opportunities (study abroad, career preparation, research and community-based learning), Wofford students enjoy Division I athletics, fraternity and sorority life and an active visual and performing arts scene. Getty Page '28 and Jacob Raider '28 each earned a $169,000 U.S. Army Cadet Command scholarship to pay for their remaining two years at Wofford.

Southern Guards honor Wofford alumni killed in action

The Southern Guards Battalion Army Reserve Officers Training Corps held its annual tribute on Saturday, Nov. 18, commemorating the 101 Wofford College students or alumni who have fallen in combat since World War I. As the morning sun rose above the treetops, cadets gathered in front of the Charles E. Daniel Building and read aloud the names. Jason Kellinger '24, an international affairs major from Calne, England, played "Taps" on a trumpet to conclude the brief but somber ceremony.

Chardonnay Durrah '23 and her father share a special bond on Veterans Day

Chardonnay Durrah's days often consist of 5 a.m. physical fitness tests with the Wofford College Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), classwork and service with a couple of campus organizations. Whenever she needs some words of encouragement or help keeping things in perspective while honing her leadership skills, her dad is just a phone call away. Durrah '23 is a government major from Roebuck, South Carolina. Her father, Leroy Durrah '92, served 30 years in the U.S. Army before retiring in 2018 at the rank of master sergeant.
