Wofford College initiated 36 students and recent graduates into its chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 3.

Five Wofford College students have received funding through the Student/Faculty Research Program of South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Inc. (SCICU) for 2016.

This fall Wofford College senior Margherita Cole will display a collection of hand-drawn comic strips but with a different twist - they all portray scenes from art history. Cole, an art history major and studio art minor from Redlands, Calif., created the exhibit over the summer thanks to support from the Whetsell Fellowship.

Nine Wofford students are participating in The Institute, a program created by the college in 2009 to help students learn professional skills such as networking, public speaking and consulting before graduation to help them better compete for jobs. The Institute runs from July 6 through August 6, and includes a one-week trip to New York City to experience direct industry exposure in one of the world's greatest business centers.

From as close as Wofford College's Admission Office to as far away as India, China and England, with assignments as diverse as scientific, robotics and medical research to banking, sales and marketing to volunteer services and conservation preservation, more than 50 Wofford students and recent graduates are gaining valuable experiences this summer through a variety of internships.
